In 1947, Norman Pollard and his family emigrated from England to Canada to embrace a new life. As a carpen- ter, he taught his wife and children everything he knew about woodworking with hopes of one day opening his own business. In 1948, Pollard Windows was opened in Burlington by Norman and his family. They all worked together when the store first opened. "We are extremely proud of our family business and what we have achieved. Our focus and commitment to serving our customers and community has not changed over the last 70 years," stated CEO of Pollard Windows, Karen Pollard-Josling. Pollard celebrated the 70th anniversary with a cus- tomer appreciation event on July 11 at Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery and Distillery. On September 26, they will also be holding a food truck event for employees. When Pollard Windows first opened, every window was made by hand. Today, Pollard combines craftsmanship with the latest technology in manufacturing techniques to craft the windows and doors. Pollard notes that customers and their loyal business throughout the years are to thank for reaching the mile- stone. Since 1948, they have followed the philosophy of work hard, reinvest in new technology, and give custom- ers more for their money. Pollard is a third generation, 100 per cent Canadian, family owned and operated business focused on the de- sign, development, manufacturing and marketing of win- dows and doors across Canada and the United States. Pollard's products are ideal for new home construction, multi-level buildings, renovation and custom builds, and property management. Pollard Windows is located at 1217 King Rd., Burling- ton. The new ser- vices will provide clients with world-class customer service, competitive insurance and financial services products and expanded offerings. In January 2015, the Desjardins Group completed the purchase of the State Farm Canadian property and casualty and life insurance operations. The State Farm business will be rebranded as Desjardins Insur- ance. The brand transition began on May 1, 2018, and will be completed by Dec. 31, 2019. "Having been a State Farm Agent in Oakville for close to 30 years I am excited about the future," says Darryl Demille, Desjardins Insurance agent. "I have spoken with my clients and explained we are now of-spoken with my clients and explained we are now of-spoken with my clients and explained we are now of fering new coverages on home and auto insurance products and the choice of financial services for all age ranges is outstanding." The acquisition allows Desjardins to develop a broader, multi-channel distribution network across the country, while continuing to meet the important needs of State Farm's Canadian customers. Clients will continue to be served by their former State Farm Agents, who are becoming Desjardins Insurance Agents. "Customers can continue to count on the strength of their relationships with Agents and support when- ever they need it," says John Bordignon, spokesper- son for Desjardins Group. "Desjardins Insurance Agents know their community and provide advice and a multitude of choices to get their clients the right insurance and financial products that fit their unique needs and goals." The acquisition brings minimal changes other than expanded offerings and the brand transition. Some State Farm Agents have already begun moving over to Desjardins Insurance and are eager to share some- thing new and beneficial for their customers. "Our office will see new signs installed during the week of Sept. 3, 2018. We look forward to the fresh new green colour and my sports sponsorships will need to go from red to green as well," explains Demi- lle. " I encourage folks to pop by, say hello and have a look at our new offerings. Thank you to all my clients and associates for consistently voting our company as one of the best in Oakville. It is a standard we work hard to deliver to you." For more information, visit statefarm.ca/about-us/ desjardinsstatefarm.ca Desjardins Insuance announces the brand transition and sign change.
