"We can choose to do nothing and let this go, but then we would be condoning the improper and alleged illegal action perpetrated by Councillor Huffman." In speaking with the Champion af- ter themeeting, Huffmanexpressed his dismay in council's decision. "The fact that it took three months ... for Effie to even bother replying with such an unsatisfy- ing response indicates to me that Effie has no inter- est in listening, much less represent, the people of her constituency," he said. When asked why her office hasn't responded to posts on Facebook, Triantafilopoulos admit- ted the page may not have been monitored immedi- ately at first as her office was going through "a pe- riod of flux" post-elec- tion. "But since then we also have a notification on there advising people who contact us on Face- book to direct their inqui- ry to us by email or phone," she said, with the same on her Twitter page. Triantafilopoulos ex- plained if a resident has a constituency issue to dis- cuss, doing so by email or phone or in person was the way to go and not on social media where ev- eryone could see it, citing privacy concerns. "I think the impor- tance of connecting to our constituents is our No. 1 role as parliamen- tarians," she said. "I will continue to be in touch and accessible and avail- able, and welcome any in- dividuals who felt we weren't available when they needed us to get in touch with us. "The last thing I want is, for whatever reason, someone to feel that we're not reachable," she add- ed.
