They said the stores are not even need- ed since recreational cannabis can be or- dered online through the Ontario Canna- bis Store. One resident presented a petition, which she said was signed by 2,268 resi- dents throughout Oakville, calling on council to choose the opt-out option. Councillors also heard from a man hop- ing to open a cannabis retail store within the town. He argued tight regulations in place for cannabis would require the store to be se- cure and would ensure it was nowhere near a school. He also said opting in would benefit the people who would work at his cannabis store who would earn a middle-class wage.
