Due to poor acoustics in Oak- ville Town Hall's South Atrium, the next few council meetings are being moved to the Halton Re- gional Centre. Oakville council has been holding meetings in the South Atrium for the last few months as the council chamber undergoes a $2.2 million renovation to accom- modate the two new Ward 7 coun- cillors, replace the information technology system and heating and cooling systems and bring the room up to AODA (Accessibil- ity for Ontarians with Disabili- ties Act) standards. While the holding of council meetings in the South Atrium is temporary the area has issues with acoustics, which make it dif- ficult for councillors to hear each other and for members of the au- dience to hear the councillors. On Dec. 17, Oakville council voted that these sound issues are not acceptable and as such Oak- ville council meetings will be held in the council chambers of the Halton Regional Centre until the Oakville council chamber renovations are complete in March. The upcoming Oakville town council and planning and devel- opment council meetings sched- uled to be held at Halton Regional Centre include: • Special council meeting, Jan. 7 .Planning and development council meeting, Jan. 14 • Council meeting, Jan. 28 • Planning and development council meeting, Feb. 4 • Planning and development council meeting, Feb. 11 • Council meeting, Feb. 25 Live stream video coverage of these meetings will be available on the town's YouTube channel. Members of the public are en- couraged to visit Oakville.ca for the most up-to-date meeting in- formation. The Halton Regional Centre is located at 1151 Bronte Rd. OAKVILLE COUNCIL MEETINGS MOVING OUT OF TOWN HALL DUE TO BAD ACOUSTICS DAVID LEA dlea@metroland.com NEWS Happy New Year from all of us at KSM. We are so blessed to be able to come alongside our neighbours in need during the holidays and throughout the year. We are able to do what we do thanks to the generosity of our supporters and community partners. COBS Lakeshore is one of our special partners. They have been a community supporter of Kerr Street Mission for many years. COBS donates $50,000 in baked goods and support to KSM each year. The bread provides families with healthy, fresh bread daily and also supports our meal programs. Over 360 days a year, our team of dedicated volunteers package their end of day bread and deliver it to KSM for clients to enjoy. COBS Lakeshore also extends their support by partnering with us for KSM's signature events such as the Mayor's Invitational Softball Tournament in July. We are so thankful for their partnership and commitment to serving our families. The racks of their donated baked goods are always such a warm welcome to our neighbours who are struggling. Thank you again to Kevin Ker and the COBS Lakeshore team. Please stop by COBS Lakeshore and show your support for our community partner. They are located at 167 Lakeshore Road East.
