The provincial government's Lakeshore West GO expansion will include 15-minute service throughout the day between To- ronto and Burlington, and deliver better service for you and your family. family. f These changes are all a part of a long-term provincial investment in the complete transformation of the GO Transit network in the coming decade. Starting in 2023, the Lakeshore West Line, which serves passengers from Hamilton to Toronto's Union Station, will be upgraded to use more efficient electric trains. These trains will run on an electrified rail track, re- placing the current fleet of diesel locomotives. The plan for electrifying the Lakeshore West GO lines is on track. It will deliver better service, with increased frequency, quieter trains, lower emissions profile and decreased carbon footprint. These changes will transform op- portunities for residents to travel using public transportation for work, travel or leisure. The provincial government has also implemented, as of last month, free GO Train trips for children 12 and under. This will al- low families to visit the CNE and Ripley's Aquarium or attend a sports game, concert or theatre production for less money. Sup- porting early public transit adop- tion by our young people is a smart policy that will encourage an increase in public transit rider- ship in the future. The provincial government plans to make further invest- ments in public transportation - highways, roads, bridges and tran- sit - that will improve Ontario's transportation network so that we have the infrastructure needed to compete in a global economy. In Oakville, the provincial gov- ernment has announced funding to support the construction of the Wyecroft Road extension project,Wyecroft Road extension project,W including a bridge over Bronte Creek. This will allow residents, businesses, cyclists, transit users, pedestrians, first responders and motorists to experience an imme- diate benefit from a multimodal connective corridor. We are committed to makingWe are committed to makingW smart infrastructure investment that will result in less traffic and congestion on our roads, encour- age the use of public transporta- tion and have a positive impact on our environment. As a commuter, I appreciate the government's quick action to make investments in the critical infrastructure Ontarians rely on daily.
