It might earn her an op- portunity to compete for her country at internation- al events. It might lead to a move to the senior ranks. In the weeks following nationals, Schizas got a call from Olympic silver med- allist Dylan Moscovitch. A skating-themed series be- ing filmed for Netflix was looking for skating doubles for some of the actors. "It's kind of the last thing I expected to have happen," Schizas said. The series, titled Spinning Out, stars three-time American champion Johnny Weir and January Jones. Schizas already filmed some of her parts at a rink in Caledon, but this week- end she'll be filming some more scenes closer to home at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. "It's definitely a lot dif- ferent than just skating your program," Schizas said. "It's all about what kind of shots they need, whether they need you to do a jump, or to do some stroking." Schizas has yet to see any of the footage but is ex- cited to see the final prod- uct. The benefit of filming at Sixteen Mile is that Schizas SILVER MEDAL LEADS TO NETFLIX APPEARANCE FOR OAKVILLE TEEN HERB GARBUTT hgarbutt@metroland.com COMMUNITY SKATER TO SERVE AS SKATING DOUBLE FOR NETFLIX'S 'SPINNING OUT' See SKATER, page 34
