She was preceded in death by her loving husband Garnet James and her siblings Edna Beddard and Reg, Jack and Doug Hughes. Irene is survived by her children Drew Birkett (Patricia Feeney) of Kaslo, B.C and Wally Birkett and Donna Corgnati (Bart) of North Carolina as well as three sisters, Joan, Betty and Sheila. "Nana" is fondly remembered by former daughter-in-law Patricia Southern. Irene was the dearly loved Grandmother of Timothy Pasch (Saori) and Adam Pasch, Maeghan Sutton (Jerry) and James Birkett (Katie) and Sierra, Brendan and Robin Birkett. She was Great-Grandmother of Kai and Riku Pasch and Hudson and Quinn Sutton. Mom was a gifted poet, writer, gardener and homemaker. She loved music, books and cryptic crosswords. Cooking, baking, golf and curling were her passions. Her poetry will live in our hearts forever. A Memorial Service will be held in Bronte, Ontario to celebrate the life of our wonderful Mother at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Road, Oakville, Ontario L6L3C3 on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Cremation care was provided by the Thompson Funeral Home Ltd. of Nelson, British Columbia in December. Interment will be a private family ceremony. The family is grateful to the staffs of Trafalgar Lodge in Oakville and the Victoria Community Health Center in Kaslo for their many years of loving care. BANKS, Gwendoline "Gwen" (nee Jones) Passed away peacefully on April 23, 2019 at Barnswallow Place, Elmira, ON in her 98th year. Gwen is predeceased by her husband Charles Edward Banks (1968), sisters Sylvia Jones of Nottingham and Audrey Jones (Bernard). Mother of David (Sharyn) Banks. Grandma of Mark Edward (Mandy) Banks. Great- grandma of Austin and Avery Banks. Gwen is survived by her brother Raymond Jones of York, England. As per Gwen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
