The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA), which represents members of the electrical energy industry across Canada, announced recently that Oakville Hydro would receive the organization's Centre of Excellence Award for the innovative pro- ject. The award recognized Oakville Hydro's implementation and application of a highly complex distributed grid intelligence for its electrical network. Through advanced sensors, this network automatically responds to changing electri- cal grid conditions without manual inter- vention, restoring electricity to residents in seconds. "We are honoured to have received this distinguished award from the CEA and be included with a group of nominees who showcase the innovative thinking and cre- ative problem solving that is taking place in organizations across Canada," said Rob List- er, president and CEO of Oakville Hydro. "I'm proud of the team for once again demonstrating and leveraging these skills on enhancing our capabilities to manage our grid with technology." This is Oakville Hydro's second Centre of Excellence Award, previously winning in 2018 for its work developing and implement- ing its Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). Oakville Hydro delivers electricity to more than 70,000 individuals, families and businesses in Oakville. OAKVILLE HYDRO RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD Metroland photo NEWS
