Thank you to the 100+ golfers who joined us for golf and an inspiring evening with special guest Chuck Ealey. All proceeds raised will help fund the KSM After School Program which provides care for 30 children and support for their families. Thank you again for all your support! KSM. 485 Kerr Street, Oakville. 905.845-7485. Charitable Reg. No. 897106845RR0001 Former Oakville resident Peter Gilgan has donated $100 million to the Hospital for Sick Children. The founder and CEO of Mattamy Homes was on hand for the announcement last week at SickKids. The funds, the larg- est single gift ever received by the Toronto hospital, were donated through the Peter Gilgan Foundation. Including donations made to other hos- pitals and health-care organizations, this makes Peter Gilgan and his foundation the largest benefactor to health care in Cana- da. The $100-million gift will support the SickKids VS Limits campaign, which in- cludes redevelopment of the hospital's downtown campus. That involves building a new patient care tower, the Peter Gilgan Family Patient Care Tower, on University Avenue. "To continue to have the opportunity to support SickKids is an honour and is also very humbling," Gilgan said. "I'm in a priv- ileged position to be able to make this gift, and I know it's going to be used to help chil- dren today and in the future live longer and healthier lives." Gilgan's commitment to ensure the SickKids campus is a cutting-edge world leader began in 2012 with a gift of $40 mil- lion to support the construction of the SickKids Centre for Research and Learn- ing. His latest donation to SickKids brings the total from the Peter Gilgan Foundation to more than $140 million. SickKids will break ground on the first of two buildings in October.
