Taking place at the Oak- ville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd., the inau- gural event on Nov. 6 begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $150. "This is the first event of its type in support of animal welfare in Oakville and Mil- ton and I couldn't be more excited about the reaction we have had from the com- munity and organizations that have been reaching out to learn how they can be part of this one-of-a kind event," says OMHS execu- tive director Rick Perciante. Oakville resident Cari MacLean chairs the Pranc- ing with the Stars commit- tee, and participated as a dancer in a similar event in 2018 in support of the Cana- da Winter Games. "I'm not a dancer so the whole experience proved to be a life-changing event for me, explains MacLean. "Somehow I rose to the occasion and got it done. "This time around I'm giving the opportunity to someone else and I know the dancers we are putting under the spotlight will put on an amazing show. "I'm particularly proud of being part of an event that brings the community together while supporting the amazing work the OMHS does in champion- ing animal welfare." Dancers are: Oliver Ma- tas, president of the Oak- ville and Milton Real Estate Board; Elissa Landsdell, Canadian TV personality and writer; Clayton Shold, OMHS board chair; Lana Hockey, community con- nector, philanthropic activ- ist; and Che Marvill, yoga instructor, community con- nector. The judges are Richard Thibault, whose expertise has evolved mainly in Dan- ceSport (aka ballroom dancing), Tanya Turschic- Carbone, a performer, cho- reographer, teacher and ad- judicator, and MacLean. The OMHS is an inde- pendent, non-profit charita- ble organization and relies entirely on donations from the public and corporate partners to provide animal care and support within the shelter.
