The crash occurred on Marlborough Court west of Trafalgar Road, not far from Sheridan College, around 9:30 p.m.from Sheridan College, around 9:30 p.m.f Thursday, Sept. 26. Mark Kilter, who lives in the area, said the "engine caught fire" in the mo- ments after the collision that saw the Ford contractor van veer off the road and crash into a light post. Oakville firefighters responded and the fire was extinguished, Halton police said. Halton Region paramedics took the injured male driver to hospital with in- juries. Materials believed to be from inside the vehicle were scattered across the roadway. Jeremi Poplawski, 65, of Oakville, has been charged with operation while im- paired and excess blood alcohol.
