At this time every year, a num- ber of women - and their children - will seek refuge at Halton Wom- en's Place shelters in Burlington and Milton. Escaping abusive relations, these women often bring little along for their shelter stays - in some cases, not even basic neces- sities of life. With that in mind, Metroland Halton is once again holding its annual holiday drive in support of Halton Women's Place at the Burlington Post office (901 Guelph Line, corner of Guelph Line and Harvester Road). From now until Friday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m., staff and the public are invited to make donations of any one of the following items: • gift cards • face masks • bath bombs • makeup • journals • spa items • school snacks • non-perishable food items • leggings (for women) • children's clothing and win- ter apparel • T-shirts (for women) • slippers (for women) • winter boots (for women) • pyjamas (for women) • baby wipes for sensitive skin Although toys are accepted, Halton Women's Place receives many toys from a number of groups and businesses. "It is difficult for these women to provide a lot for their children while in shelter, and so it's amaz- ing to see the support that the Halton community gives, know- ing there are families who need help," said Halton Women's Place development manager Carm Boz- zo. The Burlington Post office is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. COMMUNITY METROLAND HALTON'S HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER TO AID WOMEN IN CRISIS The Metroland Media is holding its annual gift drive to support Halton Women's Place.
