Eric Gushev and Matt McHenry, both 25, are landscape experts in the warm weather, and "ho-ho" home exterior light experts in the winter. This is the second year they have been providing homeowners with the service. This year, they decided to dress up in fuzzy Santa Claus suits, and it's become quite a hit with locals. "We started it to keep busy, since we don't do snow removal (as many summer land- scapers choose in the snowy season)," said Gushev. "We enjoy it, it keeps us busy, and every time we show up in Santa suits it makes it a bit more fun." People stop to take photos of them reg- ularly. This past week, they surprised a re- tired woman whose daughter had paid for the service. He said a lot of the other clients are folks they serve through the summer with their landscaping business. The service costs between $200 to $800, depending on how complicated the setup is. Both graduates of Oakville Trafalgar High School, they became roommates at Fan- shawe College. Gushev studied landscap- ing, while McHenry studied integrated land planning. After graduating, they decided to work together, and they started their own company a few years ago - Northern Oak Landscapes.
