Business in Oakville Desjardins Insurance agents raise $8,000 for charities This month, independent Desjardins agents, Darryl Demille and Grant Leslie teamed up to give back to their community. They have raised $4,000 each through the Desjardins GoodSpark Commu- nity Grants program and will pass the funds along to a local charity of their choice. Dedicated entrepreneurs, Demille and Leslie are thrilled by the support they have received through the Desjardins GoodSpark Community Grants program. This is the second year that Des- jardins Insurance and the exclusive Desjardins Agent Network have teamed up to support Cana- dian communities. Demille will be supporting the Community Foun- dation of Halton North's (CFHN) Mental Wellness Fund. CFHN is an organization that recognizes a gap in funding for mental health services for resi- dents in Halton Hills and Milton and has estab- lished the Mental Wellness Fund. "I was honoured to help select and contribute to the grant provided to the Community Foundation of Halton North," says Demille. "The GoodSpark Com- munity Grants aim to "spark good" by giving a help- ing hand to those who need it most. CFHN plays a vital role in our community and Desjardins is proud to help support their good work". CFHN executive director, Sue Lawrenson said, "The Community Foundation of Halton North's vision is to grant back into the communities which make up North Halton. I am thrilled that the Foundation receives such generous support from community partners such as Mr. Demille and Desjardins Insurance," As for Leslie, he will be supporting the social service organization Lighthouse for Grieving Chil- dren. This charity focuses on providing a safe place where grieving children, youth and families support each other as they move through troubling times. Their headquarters is equipped with a family kitch- en, library, play area, and more. Generous dona- tions continue to help facilitate these services. "I choose to donate to the Lighthouse for Griev- ing Children because they provide critical support to families who have suffered unimaginable loss," says Leslie. "Lighthouse works closely with children, helping them to re ect, recover and re-adjust to life without someone they love. As a father of three, I can't imagine the hardship these families face. I hope this donation can be put towards supporting local families when they need it most." Darryl Demille and Grant Leslie are independent Desjardins insurance and nancial services agents.
