Easton Leduc, now 28, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison af- ter being convicted by a jury of hu- man trafficking, assault causing bodily harm and a number of fire- arm offences, according to court documents. The woman, who was 20 when she was recruited by Leduc and his team back in early 2015, testified that he started out as a "nice" young man and even paid for her flight from Montreal to Toronto af-flight from Montreal to Toronto af-f ter she expressed an interest in bartending and dancing, court heard. The woman stayed in Oakville and began making as much as $6,000 a week dancing, court heard, before she started perform- ing sexual services for men. But, suddenly Leduc's personality changed and he began to threaten her when she questioned some of the services she was being asked to perform. "He began to threaten her. He said he would knock her teeth out. She should not play around with him or he would beat her up," Jus- tice Alfred J. O'Marra said in his recent ruling. On several occasions, Leduc would beat her up, "pulling her hair, slapping her face, choking her, punching and kicking her. He also threatened her by stating that he would break her teeth," accord- ing to the ruling. "She stated that as a result of the nightmare she experienced as a victim of human trafficking and assault it changed her as a person," O'Marra said. "She was once joyful and confident, but as a result of her nightmare she has become ex- tremely anxious and fearful all the time." The woman testified Leduc left her in debt that exceeded $30,000 after promising her money and keeping it for himself. "I am terrified to be out in pub- lic because I was conditioned and told someone would come and find and hurt me if I ever ran off or went to the police," the young woman told the court. Leduc, along with Sewa Lacle and Jahmani Brown were found guilty of being in a criminal orga- nization, and conspiracy to pos- sess firearms offences on a multi- count indictment after a trial by ju- ry on May 28, 2019.
