The thrift superstore chain, with 300 locations across North America, launched in Ontario in 1992 "offering one-of-a-kind finds and helping keep reusable items out of the waste stream." "We're excited to open the doors of our new Value Village right in the heart of Oakville and help local customers find some amazing thrifted items, from clothing to homeware and acces- sories," said store manager Jen- nifer Harrison. "Value Village is on a mission to inspire reuse through our commitment to sustainability and has become one of the largest recyclers of used goods in the world, keeping nearly 64 million kilograms of reusable items from Ontario landfills last year alone." The location will also accept donations of reusable items on behalf of its nonprofit partner, Oasis Addiction Recovery Soci- ety. When community members donate used clothing to Oasis at the store's community donation centre, they are turning those goods into a sustainable source of funding for Oasis. "We're looking forward to con- tinuing our partnership with Value Village with the opening of their new Oakville store," said Andonis Artemakis of Oasis. "By donating their reusable goods at the store's community donation centre, local residents will help us further our support of those in recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction as they re- integrate into society." The new Oakville store is lo- cated at 125 Cross Ave. near the Oakville GO station and will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more informa- tion, contact the store directly at 289-910-0799 or visit www.value- village.com Value Village cashier Sabrina Abreu shows off the sign explaining what happens after you donate items to the new 125 Cross Ave. location.
