Connecting and Supporting our Youth When the directive from the government was announced that schools would remain closed for the rest of this school year, Kerr Street Mission also had to make the decision to cancel our child and youth programming. The decision was a difficult one, but we have worked hard at implementing online programs to help youth adjust. The Upward Sports Basketball League held at KSM was cut short in March. However, that didn't stop David (pictured with participant Elijah) and Caitlen from Upward Sports making sure each participant received their completion certificate, while physically distancing. On top of ensuring youth were rewarded for their hard work, Upward Sports continued offering online programs for youth every Monday night to keep activity up while isolating. Their sessions are now complete, but we are looking forward to more programs with them in the future. Tim Moore our Youth Development Lead is also offering online youth meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays through Zoom. The meetings give everyone a chance to catch up and feel connected. They share riddles and trivia, play online games, sometimes help with homework and simply talk about what's going on and how and what we are doing to get through this time. Together we'll all get through this and hopefully we'll be able to see everyone again soon. For more information, please send us a message or visit kerrstreet.com.
