Loving husband to Lynda for 48 years. Devoted father to Shaun (Ashley). Loving son of Catherine and William MacKenzie and brother Kirk MacKenzie (Kristina) and sister Shannon, and stepmother Jean. John will be missed by his grandchildren Carson and Callie. Fondly remembered by Harvey (Penny), Ken (Sharon), Paul, Steve, Jennifer, Heather, Christopher and many friends. John was a wonderful husband, father and true friend. Long-time employee of The Ford Motor Company of Canada, following his retirement John managed MacKenzie Business Solutions. He will be remembered as an avid golfer and club champion at Richview Golf Club in Oakville. Sorry you didn't get to golf one more round. Hopefully you will find a yellow Mustang in Heaven. As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of his life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John to the Lung Health Foundation would be sincerely appreciated. www.smithsfh.com In Memory of Janice HAYHURST (nee Dowbiggin) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 7, 2019 at Wyndham Manor in Oakville at the age of 89. Janice is missed by her loving family; husband George, her sons Stephen (Janice), Christopher (Isabelle) and Jonathan (Julie), her grandsons Ryan, Nathan and Evan, her step-grandsons Brian and Greg and her nephew Simon. She was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Edward, brother Gareth and sister Lynn. Janice and her husband George came to Canada on the Queen Mary in 1952, eventually settling in Oakville, Ontario in 1964 to raise their family. Janice was a wonderful cook who threw great parties, had a terrific sense of humour and loved to have fun. Born on January 19, 1930 in Lancaster, she was the epitome of the intrepid Englishwoman in all she did. She had boundless energy, active every waking moment, hockey mom, cubs, sailing, softball; she caught my first snake. She loved camping, hiking and picnics (picnics? we had winter picnics!). She was voracious reader for most of her life, a very creative person, spending much of her free time doing ceramics, knitting and sewing, designing and sewing all of our Halloween costumes. She was an avid and very accomplished gardener for over 40 years; her garden on Willowdown Rd. was nothing short of spectacular! Janice was a very kind soul with empathy for all. Following a tradition passed down from her mother, she was a great supporter of charitable, community and social organizations. She passionately volunteered for the Oakville Distress Centre, manning the phones and giving presentations to our local schools for a decade or more. She was awarded the Shirley Labis Memorial Award in 1993 For Outstanding Service to Distress Centres in Ontario. If you would like to make a donation, please give to your local distress centre, otherwise take a moment to think of her. Janice is much loved and will always be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her. Remembering on Father's Day Tributes for this section must be received by 6 p.m. on June 12th. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. Pleasant in manner, patient in pain, our loss is your eternal gain. Your cheery ways and smiling face, are a pleasure to recall; you had a kindly word for each, and died beloved by all. We are sad within our memory, lonely are our hearts today; for the one we loved so dearly has forever been called away. We think of you in silence, no eye may see us weep; but many silent tears are shed when others are asleep. What would I give to clasp your hand, your happy face to see, to hear your voice and see your smile, that meant so much to me.
