The Ontario govern- ment is providing $850,000 to an Oakville manufactur- er to help that company in- crease production of disin- fectants needed to fight thefectants needed to fight thef spread of the coronavirus. Vic Fedeli, Minister ofVic Fedeli, Minister ofV Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, re- cently announced that Vi- rox Technologies Inc., would be the first company to receive an investment from the Ontario Togetherfrom the Ontario Togetherf Fund. The money will al- low Virox to double its pro- duction of disinfectants and create more jobs. "We are looking for the best and brightest in the province to step up and provide critical goods and services in our effort to stop the spread of CO- VID-19," said Fedeli, in a press release. "I am pleased to see an innovative disinfectant company like Virox Tech- nologies come forward and use its made-in Ontario ad- vanced technology to help keep our front-line work- ers and communities safe." In a speech at Queen's Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford noted Virox had created a disinfectant, which kills coronavirus within 30 seconds on any surface. Virox President andVirox President andV CEO Randy Pilon said his company is planning to in- stall a high-speed manu- facturing assembly line tofacturing assembly line tof increase production of its Accelerated Hydrogen Per- oxide products. He estimates the new equipment will allow the company to produce 6,000 cases per day, which will help meet increased de- mand from the health-care sector and general con- sumer market during the outbreak. The project will also create 20 full-time and part-time jobs and help re- tain 120 positions in Oak- ville. "We are pleased to re- spond to the government's call to action to help stop the spread of this out- break," said Pilon in a news release. "We pride ourselves on offering sustainable hy- drogen-peroxide based dis- infecting solutions and making products that are safe for people, animals and the planet. By ramping up our production with new equipment and up- grades, we will help meet the growing need in hospi- tals, and communities across Ontario and Cana- da." On March 21, Ford launched the Ontario To- gether web portal appeal- ing to Ontario's manufac- turers, entrepreneurs and innovators to provide es- sential supplies and equip- ment to support front-line workers in their fight against the COVID-19 pan- demic. To support the develop- ment of proposals submit- ted by businesses and indi- viduals through the Onta- rio Together web portal and help businesses retool their operations, the gov- ernment launched a $50 million Ontario Together Fund. Officials said all sub- missions received through the portal are being re- viewed and prioritized to focus on solutions that canfocus on solutions that canf respond to where the need is greatest and can be im- plemented quickly.
