Town staff announced that all 19 splash pads will be open as of 10 a.m., Fri- day, June 26. Lions, Wedgewood and Falgarwood outdoor pools and Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre's (QEPCCC) in- door pool will open on Monday, July 13 for recre- ational swims and private lessons only. The opening of splash pads and pools follows the announcement of Stage 2 of Ontario's framework for reopening the prov-for reopening the prov-f ince. "As a swimmer, I know how important our pools are to residents and we know the reopening of splash pads will put a smile on many young fac- es, too," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. "We proactively con- sulted public health au- thorities about pools and splash pads and are open- ing these with the health and safety of the commu- nity in mind. I encourage residents to continue to follow all health protocolsfollow all health protocolsf while using these ameni- ties including (following) physical distancing, prop- er hand washing, and stay home if you are not well. The splash pads will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Town staff noted that while families are being encouraged to use these facilities, caregiversfacilities, caregiversf should ensure that proper physical distancing is tak- ing place at splash pads. They said the splash pads will be inspected dai- ly, however, staff will not be sanitizing all features or play areas. Residents are remind- ed to wash or sanitize their hands after use. The playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment remain closed under pro- vincial order. Regarding the pools, Town staff said online bookings for all swims start July 6 at active.oak- ville.ca. In-person bookings will not be allowed to man- age capacity restrictions. They noted capacity at the outdoor/indoor pools will be reduced to help en- sure physical distancing guidelines are maintained in compliance with Hal- ton Public Health Regula- tions, Lifesaving Society's guidelines and provincial guidelines. Reduced-capacity length and leisure swims will be offered in short- ened times to maximize access. Customers will be asked a verbal health questionnaire before en- tering the pool. Anyone exhibiting CO- VID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter.
