23 | O akville B eaver | T hursday,July 2,2020 insidehalton.com A 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with drug trafficking and a drive-by shooting, which occurred in Oakville on May 29. The incident took place on Napier Cres- cent at approximately 2:30 a.m. Police said a vehicle drove along the street and several shots were fired at a home. Approximately a half-hour later, the vehi- cle returned and several more shots were fired. No one was injured. Det. Ron Wright of the Halton Police Oak- ville Criminal Investigations Bureau said the shooting was targeted. An investigation resulted in police exe- cuting search warrants on Baronwood Drive in Oakville and Cedar Springs Road in Bur- lington on Wednesday, June 24. A third warrant was executed on a vehi- cle, which police allege was involved in the shooting. As a result of the warrants police seized: • a .22 semi-automatic rifle • .22-calibre shell casings and ammuni- tion • quantities of cocaine, Xanax and MDMA • digital scales, drug packaging and $625 in Canadian currency. Noah Landry, 24, of Oakville has been charged with two counts of discharging a firearm, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking a controlled substance, careless storage of a firearm, three counts of unauthorized pos- session of a firearm, three counts of posses- sion of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, two counts of mischief endan- gering life and three counts of failing to com- ply with probation. Mackenzie Childs, 22, of Oakville has also been charged with possession for the pur- pose of trafficking and charges related to possession of a firearm, however, investiga- tors say that at this time, they do not believe she was involved in the shooting. Wright also pointed out that while investi- gators believe the shooting was targeted, they do not think the occupants of the Napier Crescent home that was fired on were the people the shooter was looking for. "There is nothing to connect the people living there to suggest that they were the ac- tual targets," said Wright. "We have some theories. Maybe it was the wrong house targeted. It was at night, maybe it was a different residence they were looking for or something like that." Both Childs and Landry are being held pending bail hearings.
