With no shoreline protection at Shorewood Promenade and deterioration of current shoreline protection at Holyrood Promenade, shoreline conditions have been made worse following the high lake level conditions in 2017 and this past year in 2019. Shoreline construction at both sites is tentatively planned in 2021. Please note that all shoreline improvements at Shorewood Promenade will follow a Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Class EA Process. For background information on these shoreline sites, the town's recent Shoreline Inventory Report is available on the town's website at oakville.ca. A Public Information Centre (PIC) is being planned to discuss issues related to these projects, including alternative solutions, evaluation criteria, environmental impacts and mitigation measures. A PIC date and details will be advertised as the study progresses. Comments invited The town appreciates your feedback and encourages you to get involved. A key component of the study is consultation with interested stakeholders, the public, landowners and regulatory agencies. You are encouraged to provide your comments so that they may be considered in the study. If you would like further information on the study, have any questions or comments, or would like to be added to the study mailing list, please contact: Kristina Parker, Town of Oakville 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 tel: 905-845-6601, ext. 3889 fax: 905-338-4414 kristina.parker@oakville.ca Fiona Duckett, Baird 1267 Cornwall Road, Suite 100, Oakville, ON L6J 7T5 tel: 905-845-5385 duckett@baird.com An Oakville man is facing a number of charges in con- nection with a multimillion dollar illegal gaming opera- tion tied to a series of at- tempted murders, arsons, extortion threats, shootings and assaults. The OPP say today, July 30, they have made addition- al arrests and further charg- es through Project Hobart, with their focus being on an illegal gaming organization controlled by members of the Hell's Angels outlaw mo- torcycle gang. Police seized more than $36 million in assets, includ- ing $24 million in residential property, luxury vehicles, drugs, gold, silver and devel- opment companies, after ex- ecuting search warrants in Oakville, Toronto, Pickering and other locations on July 29.As a result of this ongoing investigation, seven more people have been charged. They include Eston Sil- ver, 37, of Oakville, who is charged with three counts of bookmaking as well as laun- dering proceeds of crime, possession of property ob- tained by crime and commis- sion of an offence for a crimi- nal organization. To date, more than 30 peo- ple have been charged in the massive and lengthy investi- gation, with OPP Chief Supt. Kari Dart saying the "active takedown" involved law en- forcement agencies from across the country. "Police and our partner agencies are again demon- strating that we are relent- less in our pursuit of crimi- nal organizations and their leaders, their associates and their criminal lifestyle, en- suring the safety of our com- munities," Dart said. During the course of the investigation, a known member of Hell's Angels and a member of this illegal gam- ing criminal organization -- Michael (Diaz) Deabaitua- Schulde, 32 -- was murdered in March 2019 as he left a gym he frequented in Missis- sauga.
