Fall Registration Oakville School of Classical Ballet celebrates 60 years of excellence In October of 2019, the Oakville School of Classical Ballet celebrated its 59th year as an integral part of Oakville and the Ballet community at large. After 47 years on Robinson Street, OSCB moved into its brand new fa- cilities on 136 Church Street, with large and open studio spaces, conveniently located across from Oakville Centre of the Performing Arts in downtown Oakville. In these challenging times, OSCB seized the oppor- tunity to embrace technology and all of its possibilities; Zoom classes were implemented to great success in March during the initial lockdown phase of COVID -19. As larger gatherings were permitted in Stage Three, stu- dents were given the option to attend either in-person or Virtual Classes. OSCB reopened its spacious facilities in July for its Summer Intensive, classes with small numbers in large studios, with careful and strict adherence to provincial social-distancing guidelines. It proved to be a great suc- cess as students were able to continue engaging in a high-quality and demanding curriculum, yet allowing for social interaction to be conducted in a safe environment. As an Examiner on the Panel of Examinations of Ameri- can Ballet Theatre (R) National Training Curriculum, Artis- tic Director Amanda Paterson has been requested over the years to give masterclasses and conduct examina- tions worldwide, including Mumbai, India. Due to the in- ternational travel restrictions of 2020, Paterson's master- classes for Bella Academy in Mumbai took place virtually via Zoom. OSCB subsequently invited the dancers from Bella Academy to join our OSCB dancers in Oakville, vir- tually, for the Summer Intensive, leading to a wonderful international dance collaboration. Thanks to the technol- ogy of today, the Oakville and Mumbai dancers were able to share a common passion for classical ballet. With the success of the spring and summer behind us, we are excited to announce that all classes will resume on September 12, 2020, with options of in-person or vir- tual attendance. A wide range of ballet training is offered from the age of 3 to adult, with both recreational and professional training programs. We welcome dancers and families safely into our bal- let school with COVID procedures and protocols in place.
