IS ONVACATION Busy running your small business? Let us help with marketing it. Introducing Marketing 360™ Powered by Star Metroland Media Learn More at Marketing360.ca It's the little shop on wheels. "It brings the quaint experi- ence we created within our stores to the outside," said Natacha Rey, owner of Maison Apothecare, founded in 2012. And it breathes new life into Rey's all-natural bath and body care product business, which took a major hit during the pan- demic when she was forced to permanently close two of her three locations -- Niagara-on- the-Lake and Bloor West Village. There were many sleepless nights trying to determine a way forward. Yes, she had a booming online presence and her flagship Oak- ville location, but with the doors forced shut, no customers. It was a casual comment her young daughter made about driving her product around like a food truck that put the wheels in motion, and the mobile shop, inspired by a farmer's market truck, became a reality. Rey's automotive engineer husband built the shop within a week on the back of the family Jeep. "We come to you and provide a socially-distant shopping experi- ence," said the mother of two. "We can set up at your home, business or charity location." The mobile shop will carry "a little bit of everything." "If we don't have it in stock on the mobile shop, we'll ship it to customers following the event." Rey or one of her staff will be driving the mobile shop to events within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area and the Maison Apothecare Jeep will be parked at Dillon's Distillery in Beams- ville every Saturday until Labour Day. In the meantime, Rey contin- ues to enhance and fine-tune her customers' online experience and breathe "new energy and fo- cus" into her Oakville store, which carries her therapeutic remedies, popular hand washes, a home cleaning line, Lemon Aide, baby care and a gentle- man's apothecary. For now, there is no in-store shopping but rather staff will assist customers out- side of the Redwood Square site. "As we move through this pan- demic, I believe people will change their approach to shop- ping for the foreseeable future. Our mobile shop will have numer- ous practical applications that will address people's needs to con- veniently shop, refill bottles and receive online orders, so this is very much a multi-use vehicle."
