The purpose of the study was to assess the problem of creek erosion and instability and evaluate alternatives to reduce risk to public and private property. The recommended solution to reduce erosion risk within the study area includes the use of erosion mitigation works at six (6) of the eight (8) erosion sites identified, using a combination of hard engineering (armourstone), natural channel design principles, and soft bioengineering approaches. The remaining two (2) erosion sites are located within park lands, far removed from private property and show no immediate risk to park lands. The recommendation for the first of the two (2) remaining erosion sites is continued monitoring by the town following some clean-up of debris in the channel. The recommendation for the second remaining erosion site is to address erosion issues at the time of future pedestrian crossing modifications as recommended in the associated flood EA study. The recommended solutions address the long term sustainability of the creek and considers such factors as creek confinement, habitat function and tableland uses. The study was carried out in accordance with the requirements as described in the Municipal Engineers Association's Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document (October 2000, as amended in 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Schedule B Municipal Class EA process included consultation with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and the public, including two Public Information Centres that were held during the study. The recommended solution incorporates public, local municipal and agency comments received during the course of the study. Project File now available for public review The Project File has been prepared to document the planning and decision-making process for this study. By this Notice, the Project File is being placed on the public record for a forty five (45) day review period from and including September 1 to October 15, 2020. In recognition of current COVID 19 restrictions the Report will be made available on the town's website at oakville.ca and special accommodations to view hard copies will be determined on an as needed basis. Oakville Terry Fox Run chair and Oak- ville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff says a virtual run will take place on Sept. 20 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Mar- athon of Hope. Here are six things you need to know: • The 40th annual Terry Fox Run goes virtual this year with the theme, "One Day. Your Way." The plan is for Canadians from coast to coast to come together while apart to safely walk, run, bike, swim or donate to their very own Terry Fox Run event. Residents are asked to be as creative as possible and design their own safely dis- tanced Terry Fox Run. • A Terry Fox Foundation mobile app has been created to allow residents to take part in step and distance challenges lead- ing up to run day. The app gives you access to supporters and plenty of inspiration for planning your own virtual event. Sign up for the app at terryfox.org.app. • Residents are encouraged to share their innovative ideas and fun run plans on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #TryLikeTerry and #TerryFox- Oakville. On Sept. 20 residents can use these hashtags to share photos and videos of their run, which the Oakville Terry Fox Run will use to make a special video of how Oakville residents came together virtually to help find new treatments and cures for all forms of cancer. • Residents can sign up to form a team, join a team or make a donation at www.ter- ryfox.ca/terryfoxrun/oakville. All funds support Terry Fox cancer re- search projects. • The 40th anniversary Terry Fox Run cotton T-shirts are available for $20 for adult sizes and $15 for children. Orders can be placed through oakville- terryfox@gmail.com. • Last year, the Oakville Terry Fox Run succeeded in raising $200,000 for cancer re- search.
