OAKVILLE ARMY CADETSFall Registration The Canadian Cadet pro- gram is the largest and oldest youth development program in Canada, comprising three main building blocks: youth leadership (including citizen- ship), physical fitness, and out- door adventure training. This provides outstanding personal growth opportunities for male and female cadets aged 12 to 18. This year, the 1188 Oakville Army Cadet Corps is celebrat- ing its 97th training year, proudly serving the people of the Town of Oakville. Individual cadets contribute well over 2,000 volunteer hours per year to the Oakville community and participate in numerous local charity events, including the annual poppy sales campaign for the Oakville and Bronte branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. While the program is sponsored and supported by the Canadian Armed Forces, cadets are civilians, and there is no expectation to join the military. However, this arrangement allows cadets access to unique oppor- tunities for leadership, community service and out- door adventure that would not otherwise be possible. Accepting new cadets on an ongoing basis, the Oakville Army Cadets will be delivering another year of rewarding experiences for local youth.
