The poppy campaign, which raises funds for veterans and their families, how- ever, is underway with donation boxes in various local businesses and will run until Nov. 11. Bronte Legion will be holding a small Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Bronte Cenotaph. Realizing that some may wish to honour the day in person, Shawn McCulloch, Bronte Legion Branch 486 president, urges residents to respect physical distancing protocols. "I hope everyone will take the time to re- member the fallen and with the strange times that we are experiencing, to do it in a manner that keeps everyone safe. If that's attending the service or staying home, the important part is remembering them," said McCulloch. He suggests people honour the veterans this year by wearing a poppy and support- ing their local legion. The Oakville Legion Remembrance Day ceremony will go ahead as usual in George's Square with invited guests only, no spectators, on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The neighbouring Burlington Legion will hold a live-streamed service (burling- tonlegion.com) starting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES SET, WITH RESTRICTIONS Oakville's Remembrance Day services will look a little different this year amidst the pandemic. Torstar file photo NEWS
