His sister Heidi was by his side. Gone before him were his beloved parents; Maria Ottilie Putzer (nee Etzel) on November 27, 2017 and his father John Hans Putzer on December 25, 2015. Bill leaves behind his sister Heidi, his brother-in-law Leno Mori and his nephews Owen and Connor Mori. He is also survived by his uncle Walter and Aunt Marianne Putzer, his Aunt Yvonne widow of the late Paul Putzer and his aunt Gemma Knoll of Salzburg, Austria. Bill had numerous cousins but shared a special bond with Marcel Gilg of Solothurn, Switzerland. Bill had several special friends from high school, and he worked closely with many people for many years; he was a loyal and dedicated friend to all. Bill was blessed to have numerous people both friends and strangers praying and chanting for him in his last days. The family wishes to thank all those who prayed and walked by his side during his journey. Bill was a farm boy, a very good man and well respected and well regarded by many. He was true to his beliefs. To Bill, family and friends were paramount. He cared for his parents devotedly for fifteen years, extending both their lives. Together with his parents he established M. Putzer Hornby Nursery Ltd. which produces some of the finest nursery stock in southern Ontario. Over the years, Bill's trees have found permanent homes throughout Canada, the United States, Denmark, the Ukraine and mainland China. Bill was a quiet leader. Bill's co-workers excelled under his mentorship and guidance. He was a very good man to work with and for; he always had a smile, he had a warm and gentle presence and you could always count on him to listen, to be calm, respectful and to be kind. Bill was touched by the efforts of his workers to take the nursery through the spring rush while he lay in the hospital. Bill valued the magnitude of the gift they gave him. Bill was a scuba diver and he loved exploring the world under the sea. He travelled to many unique places, Yap. Palau. Papua New Guinea, The Caribbean, Rotan, Cocos Island, and many other places around the world, Bill was equally at home with people from all walks of life. Bill was no stranger to adversity; he faced many challenges, and faced them all with dignity and honor right to the very end. Bill's gentle presence will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Rosary Church in Milton, Ontario on Monday May, 31, 2021 and Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when Covid restrictions are lifted. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to Food for Life, Burlington, Ontario or to a charity of your choice. May God Bless you All and may we carry on and make Bill proud. TURNBULL, Wilfred Douglas "Doug" February 1, 1941 in Toronto June 12, 2021 in Oakville ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Dad died peacefully, at the age of 80. Left to mourn him are his daughters Debi (John) and Yvonne (Les); stepdaughters Keren (Ryan) and Sharon (Karol); grandchildren Melissa (Derek), Kevin (Jenelle), Nicole (Alyssa), and little Parker; and even-littler great-grandson Lincoln, whose birth brought such joy to Dad this spring. Dad's brother Eric and sister-in -law Jai (David) are now the last of his generation, and there are many nieces and nephews (and their children) now bereft of their Uncle Doug. Many friends feel his absence, especially the gang from Tipperton. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Margaret, and siblings George, Margaret, and David. Dad was proud of his career at CKF and maintained close friendships with many of his coworkers long after his retirement in 2006. Dad enjoyed his retirement doing 'nothing' - daily walks, travel- ling to Europe, China, the Galapagos and Machu Picchu. Those exotic travels were great, but he said his favourite was the annual trip to Florida for the Blue Jays' Spring Training. The last two and a half years were challenging for him in many ways, but Dad met those challenges head on, and did his best to stay positive. Cheering on his teams the Blue Jays, Leafs and Raptors helped him greatly ... even when they let him down. We would like to thank the wonderful people at Palermo Village Retirement Home - you kept Dad safe during COVID - we will always be grateful for that. The kindness and positive attitudes of everyone at Palermo were a breath of fresh air that we all appreciated, and Dad truly enjoyed his time there. We also wish to thank all of Dad's doctors for their excel- lent, compassionate care. In particular, Dr. Kazem, Yolanda, and all of the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at OTMH, we cannot thank you enough for the wonderful, thoughtful care you gave Dad, and kindness you showed to us. Because of COVID restrictions, we will not be having a service for Dad now. We will have a Celebration of Life for him around this time next year - when all who wish to do so can make the trip. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was close to Dad's heart, and he participated in their fundraising walks many times. If desired, a donation in his name would be a lovely tribute.
