The station is current- ly undergoing construc- tion work, with certain ar- eas currently inaccessi- ble to passengers due to safety issues. GO Transit will keep doors that di- rectly face the construc- tion closed. GO Transit workers will announce on the in- tercom which cars will not be opening onto the platform and then in- struct passengers to move into different ones. The company says that, earlier this month, cus- tomers did not relocate in- to a different car and missed their stop. "Instead of getting off at the next stop, they pulled the emergency brake on-board -- bring- ing the entire train to a stop," read a blog post on the Metrolinx website. In one recent incident, Metrolinx reported, "cus- tomers were not in the correct train car to get off at Oakville GO and pulled the emergency door re- lease and got off into a construction site." Pulling the emergency brake is prohibited and could result in a ticket. Using emergency equipment requires GO personnel to conduct safe- ty checks, which can de- lay trains by "as much as 20 minutes." GO Transit reminds riders that the emergency brake and door release are for first responders only. Customers can press yellow emergency strips in the event of a life- threatening incident like a crime in progress or a medical emergency. "Missing your stop be- cause your coach doors did not open is certainly not one of them," says Metrolinx.
