Look out for local events and attractions where you can be rewarded for your support! Businessperson Elisa John is putting down roots in a new location. Her business, Sculpt Body Contouring Studio, used to be on the corner of Kerr Street and Florence Drive above the Stoney's. Now, she and her work can be found tucked away in a quiet corner of downtown Oakville on Robinson Street. "I've never been in an ar- ea where there are residen- tial homes across the street, but the neighbours seem very friendly," John said. "It takes time to build a clien- tele and you're dealing with people's bodies. So there's a huge trust factor that needs to be built before they're go- ing to come and accept the service." Sculpt helps clients feel their best by offering a vari- ety of non-invasive, non- surgical methods and ther- apies to help reduce fat, re- shape their bodies and gen- erally help with the cosmet- ics of the body. Services include postop- erative massage, ultra- sound therapy for reducing scar tissue, infrared light- ing for reducing postsur- gery swelling and ultra- sound cavitation as an al- ternative to liposuction. There are several other pro- cedures available as well. "I have a social work background and a psychol- ogy background," John said when asked about how she helps clients relax in a vul- nerable setting. "I under- stand the importance of be- ing present and really hear- ing what they're saying and not just trying to listen from a standpoint of sell- ing." Elisa John emphasized the importance of putting the client first. Sometimes that means having to say no to a request that might not be in their best interest. "If I'm working on a client's body and they want to add a service, if it's not the ser- vice for them, I'm going to tell them no," she said. "We've all maybe been to a consultation for some- thing or been pitched sales babble. That's not how I run Sculpt. I just don't think that's fair." First-time clients get 30 per cent off their first single session with Sculpt, and all consultations are compli- mentary.
