"With the holiday season approaching and border restrictions easing, families may be looking to make travel plans. We are writing to ensure you are aware of the following federal public health require- ments for school-aged children as you con- sider any travel arrangements outside of Canada," the board said in a notification to parents. Students not vaccinated against CO- VID-19, no matter the age, cannot attend school for 14 days upon returning to Cana- da, the board said in the email. "This includes students under the age of 12 (who are not currently eligible for CO- VID-19 vaccinations) and students 12 and over who are not vaccinated against CO- VID-19. This is a mandatory requirement put in place by the Government of Canada under the Quarantine Act," the board said. While unvaccinated children under 12 are exempt from the Government of Cana- da's quarantine regulations if they trav- elled in the company of a vaccinated indi- vidual (e.g. parent/guardian who there- fore qualifies for a quarantine exemption), unvaccinated children under 12 are still not permitted to attend school for 14 days upon their return to Canada, the board said, citing these requirements by the Gov- ernment of Canada.
