"People are hearing that the show is open because I have had word from exhibi- tors asking, just a few, asking if they could be in the show," said Janice Fendley. "I've had to say no, just take a look at the web- site," she added. She is urging the public to only consult the bridal show website, where it clearly states that "due to unforeseen circumstanc- es, the 2022 Burlington/Oakville Bridal Show will not take place." There is no exhibitors list, nor is it pos- sible to buy tickets. "We had a lot of exhibitors who did not want to exhibit and thank goodness with the new restrictions, we did not do that," Fendley said. "Secondly, we were unable to get a facility again because they came with COVID restrictions. Facilities are not able to open." The event organizers have posted noth- ing on Facebook or Instagram. They have not applied for advertising anywhere, nor have they created any signage. "So if there are things that are on the web or, you know, wherever they are, these were not done by us." Websites like India-based 10times.com show that the event is running from Jan. 15 to 16. "We have a program, an algorithm, which browses all the websites on the inter- net, just like Google," said technical head of 10times.com Mayank Chowdhary. The "dis- covery platform" captures information like the date, the venue and the event name. Organizers can claim the algorithmical- ly generated pages, or they can request to delist it from their website. The local bridal show is indeed cancelled, confirmed the organizer.
