Police said the woman hired a man seven years ago to complete some maintenance at her home. He reportedly befriend- ed the woman and police al- lege he eventually con- vinced her to give him ac- cess to her finances. Police allege that two properties were then sold and a vehicle purchased for the accused. The woman was also al- legedly sexually assaulted on two occasions, accord- ing to police. In early 2022, the woman was left in "financial" ruin and evicted from her re- tirement home, said police, who were then contacted and began an investiga- tion. On Saturday, March 19, investigators executed a search warrant at a Brampton home and made one arrest. A 58-year-old man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, uttering death threats and fraud over $5,000. He has since been re- leased from custody pend- ing a court appearance. The charges have not been proven in court. Anyone with informa- tion related to this investi- gation is asked to contact Halton police at 905-825- 4777 ext. 2221 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or haltoncrimestop- pers.ca. TWO PHARMACIES ROBBED WITHIN MINUTES Halton police are inves- tigating after two Oakville pharmacies were robbed within minutes of each oth- er on Wednesday, March 16. At 6:50 p.m., two male suspects entered the Phar- masave on Upper Middle Road, near Third Line. Police said one individu- al went behind the counter and demanded drugs and cash from the employee. The robbers were re- portedly given a small amount of pills and cash at which point they fled the scene. Just five minutes later a second pharmacy was robbed, this one on Speers Road, near Fourth Line. Police said two suspects entered the independent pharmacy, shoved an em- ployee and accessed the narcotics safe behind the counter. The individuals report- edly emptied a tray of nar- cotics into a garbage bag and then left the area with the stolen drugs. No weapon was seen or indicated during these rob- beries, and no one was in- jured. Since the robberies oc- curred within minutes of each other police are inves- tigating the possibility that they may be related. The suspects are de- scribed as wearing all black with their hoods up and face masks on to con- ceal their identities. The individuals in- volved in the second rob- bery were described to po- lice as "male youths." Anyone with informa- tion about either of these incidents is asked to con- tact Halton police at 905- 825-4747 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or haltoncrimestoppers.ca CHARGES LAID IN PORCH THEFT SPREE A 25-year-old Brampton man has been arrested in connection with a series of package thefts across Hal- ton.
