Murray. Just 69 years old, his life was overflowing with his multi- faceted talents profoundly enriching all those who came within their scope: his singing started as a one-in-multiple- millions boy alto, developed into a world class tenor he showcased in his illustrious international career as a vocalist and recording artist; his academic achievements built on his love of history, first a BA from St Francis Xavier University(NS) and then a MA in history from the University of Victoria (BC); always a gifted writer, Bruce turned his hand to bringing to life his ancestor, Pierre Belliveau, a pivotal figure in the survival of the Acadian culture facing extinction by the British in 1756 (Piau: Journey to the Promised Land, Dundurn - 2017); all of these facets made him an inspirational Halton teacher of History, English, Chemistry (half of his BA was Science), Music, even Cursive Writing to Grade 3s and director of 19 musicals (on a volunteer basis) to showcase his students budding performance talents; and after retirement, he partnered Corinne for 11 years in champion-level amateur ball- room dancing. With the help of his world-class medical team at Toronto General Hospital/ Princess Margaret Cancer Clinic, Bruce appeared to have won against pancreatic cancer but in the second round this terrible invader could not be routed. Bruce considered himself fortunate to have the lease on life given him by their excellent care. Bruce leaves sons Carson, Toronto, and Dan (Roslyn Peter), three grandchildren Esmé Ardith, Otis Peter, and Suvi Margaret, Oakville, and Corinne, Toronto. He was the last of the children, (his five siblings: David C, Daniel A, Harold S, [Morna] Anne, and Stewart, all of Nova Scotia), born to Dr James Carson Murray and Marion (Burke) Murray, RN, of Springhill, Nova Scotia. Many fond recollections of Bruce have been contributed to the Globe & Mail legacy site (Bruce MURRAY Obituary (2020) - Toronto, ON - The Globe and Mail (www.legacy.com)) as family and friends awaited the opportunity to join in celebration of his stellar life in- person. Finally, this is now scheduled to be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery on May 15, 2022, between 3-5 p.m. Suitable space will be made available to allow proper distancing and mask-wearing if that is preferred. A webpage with more information on the celebration can be accessed via www.glenoaks.ca.
