Appleford To Resume Practice Oalville, Ont. -- Major Robert Duncan Appleford, Royal Cana- dian Army Medical Corps, of Oak- ville and Hamilton, will shortly retire from the Canadian Army to resume private practice in Oakville. The announcement was made by Central Command Head- quarters, where he is presently at- tached to the Command Medical Staff. Major Appleford, 36 years of age, is well known in the Oakville and Burlington districts. He re- ceived his education at Burlington High School and the University of Toronto. He first joined the RCAMC in 1942, and during that year held a series of medical ap- pointments in Canada. In 1943 e was selected to accompany the Canadian Army _expediton to Kiska, serving as Medical Officer with a field ambulance unit. Later, he was posted overseas, serving in the UK. on the staff of the Basingstoke Plastic and Neurological Hospital, one of the Canadian Army's largest overseas medical installations. On his return to Canada in 1945 49 | he was appointed Registrar at the Chorley Park Military Hospital in Toronto, where he remained until 1946.
