Lioyd-Jones, convener of the Chapter's film committee, cor operating in this project, and are booking a number of excellent films for both children and adults. Mrs. Liloyd-Jones points out that this variety of movie fare should have a splendid influence upon. young patrons from a standpoint of citizenship training. Also important is the increase in trade the showing of these British pictures. will bring the United Kingdom, so hard up now for dollars. According to Mrs. Lloyd- Jones, children's Saturday mat- inees in Toronto have lately been much improved by the showing in several theatres of films ap- proved by the Children's Film Library Committee. This group is composed of representatives of twelve national organizations, in- cluding the Association of Junior Leagues of America, National LODE, Canadian Women's Un- iversity Club, Women's Institutes, Girl Guides, National Council of Jewish Women, Canadian Council of Churches, and Federation of Home and School Associations. This committee works in co- operation with the film distribut- ors, and the film library is com- posed of 40 films and 22 shorts. More films are being added monthly, and all new films are tested on juvenile audiences for special interest and appeal. What is known as the "wiggle test" is found to be the best method of judging a film's suitability, and a high "fidget rating" film is never accepted. "Two of this year's outstand- ing British hits will be shown in Oakvlle in the near future," Mrs. Lioyd-Jones states," "and it is hoped that the public will show their approval of this promotion of better films by their attend- ance, thus ensuring a continuance of this policy." A special child- ren's matinee, featuring a large number of colorful cartoons, will be shown locally during Baster week. 'Twill be the day for universal wearin' O' - the green, which is more than fit- ting, for it also the day that evergreen Charles Priestman, the confirmed Queen City pedestrian, takes his annual Toronto to-Oakville trek. Hale and hearty and quite as enthusiastic as on the St. Pat- rick's Day back in 1930, when he checked his pedometer before sct- ting out on his first Lakeshore Rd. jaunt, the veteran insurance executive still sets an effortless pace for his Monday Glory Walk- ing Club. It will be his 20th con- secutive Saints Day saunter for 83 year old Charlie Priestman, who will again be accompanied by a large contingent of his Morning Glory lads and lassies. He has been hiking for health and plea- sure for more than half a century, and during the past two decades his familiar Vandyck beard has become, for Oakvillans, as much a symbol of the day as is the time honoured shamrock.
