[luded under the latter head- are leatherwork, basketry, imaking, weaving, smocking dressmaking. There was a bliss in folk dancing, but this had fof be temporarily abandoned for igo, lack of space. It is planned to form classes in ceramics and wood-carving when proper quar- ters are avallable. A member of Arts and Crafts may take as many courses as he pleases, all for the fee of two dollars a year. For this trifling sum he also gets refreshments when he attends class. Mrs. Bed- lington points out that the organ- ization is doing valuable work in training leaders for group ac- tivities in local churches and oth- er bodies. A number are already acting in this capacity. But if Oakville Arts and Crafts is to continue to grow with the community and to meet the in- creasing demand for its services, it must have better and larger quarters in which to function. Completion of the new Community Centre will make this new accom- available, and enable modation ish as a cultural force in Oakville. DRIVER BLAMELESS A coroner's jury last Wednesday night decided that 9-year-old James Alger, Jr. died as a result of being hit by an auto last Sept. 29. The lad was struck while rid- ing his bike on Lakeshore high- way just east of town. The verdict attached no blame to Fred Ains- worth, driver of the car. The jury recommended that in view of the number youngsters who ride bikes on the highway, signs should be posted warning motorists of the danger. of COMMUNITY HARDWARE your OAKVILLE COLOR CENTRE | 2 © for | RULCRAFT Cote Scheme PAINTS thoice of paint colors. So Mayor Mason finally offered a turkey dinner for everyone around the council table for one--just one--I11 o'clock meeting. But the induce- ment failed, and Amos eventually tired of waiting for the turkey dinner. Last week he gave it any- way, entertaining the reeve, coun- cillors, officials and press at a festive spread at Guelph's Royal Hotel. Unfortunately, however, the council lingered over dressing and drumsticks so long that it was found necessary to schedule a special meeting next day to catch up with town business.
