Mrs. Arthur Vallance of Port Nelson opened the bazaar with a brief speech. Caroline Hoey very graciously presented Mrs. Val lance with flowers. The hall, tab- les and booths were tastefully decorated with autumn flowers and leaves. A special service to 'mark the first anniversary. of the opening of the Parish hall will be held on Sunday, Noy. 19th at 7 p.m. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SOCIETY At the service Sunday morning the subject will be "Mortals and Immortals. A service and party for the Little Helpers will be held on Saturday afternoon. A supper meeting under the auspices of the Missionary Com- mittee will be held in the parish hall on Monday, Nov. 27, when the speaker will be Rev. Mr. John from the Church of South India. St. Jude's Women's Guild held their monthly meeting in the parish hall last evening. The interior of 'the parish hall is being renovated. ST. JOHN'S A woman who spent 35 years in Japan as a teacher in the Unit- ed Church missions will be the speaker at a joint thank-offering supper meeting of the Evening and Afternoon W.M.S., to be Held in Lusk Hall Monday evening, Nov. 13. The speaker, Miss Sy- bil R. Courtice, spent a year in custody as a citizen of an enemy nation, being repatriated in 1943. She was the first mislonary to return to Japan after the war. Lusk Hall, which has been com: pletely renovated, will be form- ally re-opened by Rev. Mr. Paw- son at Sunday's 11 a.m. service.
