NEW HOMES FOUND FOR THREE DOGS During the last week, visitors to the new shelter adopted three dogs and one very contented cat, but we still have a very good selection of pets from which to choose. Topsy, a small collie mother, is still with us, and a part springer male still shakes hands hopefully who drops in to see us. All in all, we have six cats, four male dogs and two female dogs. And you may have black, gray, or white with tan marking. Junior Humane Notes Next big events for Juniors to watch for are the April meeting and the May Pet Show. Keep watching this space for full de- tails each week, because you don't want to miss them. ' with everyone { SPORT SHORTS Four evenly matched teams battled to draw decisions in the bantam and peewee finals as the town's minor hockey loop wound up it's brief initial season Satur- day morning. Championships, as a result, went to the teams that finished | the regular schedule in first place. With Don Ritchie playing an- other terrific game in goal and Jan Shepherd and Kenny Brown going well out front, Golds held While | Lakeshores came up with a seven goal burst in the final frame to trim the commer. cial league all-stars 12-4 in the Matthews Fund benefit game last Friday night, the latter squad made quite a game of it for two periods. Bolstered by four of Bud Corbett's juvenile team, allstars held the count to 2all in the first, and 54 in the second before the arena roof fell in on them. It was an enter. taining evening of hockey, and deserved a much bigger holiday crowd. Paul Allan and his ager Bronte mates to a 1-1 tie to take the bantam title. The goal that got by Ritchie was just the second in the six games he played. In the peewee championship tussle, the well balanced Bronte and Canad- ian squads ended their clash in a 3all draw, the verdict going to the pacemaking Bronte club. Well satisfied with this first minor hockey venture, the rec reation commission plans to get competition under way early next season, and fully expects the lea- gue will soon be a 'hotbed for hockey talent hereabouts.
