He thought the taunt of the »leader of the CGovernment that the Upposition favoured the abolition of the Local House was / uncalled for. _ That hon. gentleman had in-- | stanced one member who heid such an opinion, and who had a perfect right to his opinion. He alluded to the action of the hon. gentleman whcq a member of the old Parliament of Can-- ada, in accepting office in the same Government 'as Sir John Macdonald, who, the hon. entle-- man had maintained, at one time fnvoure§ legis-- lative union.
