In reply to Mr. Harcourt, l Mr. CROOKS said that the De itory in connection with the Education Bzinrtment was now practically closed, and that no further sum would be asked for its maintenance. PUBLIC SCHOOL INSPECTORS, In reply to Mr. Harcourt, ® Mr. SRO()KS said it was not the intention of the Government to take away from Public School Inspectors the eupervision of Mechanies' Institutes, but that fuller reports would have to be furnished by them. SCHOOL vACATIONS. | Mr. WATERS moved for a return showing the number of rural School Sections which | have taken advantage of the late amendment to the School Act respecting the shortening of summer vacations. Mr. CROOKS said he had no objection to the motion. The number, as would be shown by the return, was very small.
