Mr. BOULTER said that he would move that the House go into Committee of the Whole » con-- der the Bill, and moved that the Bill be aracuded so as to extend the charter and allow the Com-- ; pany to construct a line eastward to connect | with the Canada Central Railway. | Mr. PARDEE axplained the Action of the Com-- imittee in deciding against the extension of the | charter eastward to the Canada Certral. The | matter might be brought up at next session, when I perhaps the extension might be granted in view of | the cirecumstances then prevailing. The Commit-- | tee thought the charter was asked rather to cover the ground than with a view to construction. i Mr. BLEZARD said that the granting of the | sharter while the Toronto and Ottawa enterprise | was pending might defeat both. Mr. BOULTER moved another amendment, to the effect that the Company be authorized to ex-- tend the road north from Chemony Lake to Bob-- (-nyficon and Fenelon Falis--to a point of junrction with the Victoria Road. Mr. PARDEE said no notice of this motion had been given, and it was inuu)ssihle to tell what effeoct the proposed amendment would have on other railway charters. Under these cirecum-- stances it would be better to lcave the matter over until next session, when a Bill could be introduced and the matter dealt with properly. Mr. BOULTER said the notice of motion had been given to the Committee, This was merelfiyean umenfimont to the third clause. There had en no arfiumcm against the firoposed extension, either in Committee or in the House. Mr. PARDEE said if it was the fact, as stated by the last speaker, that the question of the pro-- posed northward cxtension was not considerenf in the Committee, but that it was merel{ struck out because it was embraced in the same clause as the atern extension, there might be good grounds . Ay it should pass. If the Bill were allowed to stand the matter would be rectified. The Bill was allowed to stand. KINGSTON--ROAD TRAMWAY. On motion for the third reading of the Bill relat-- ing to the Kinlgswn-road tram way. Mr. MORRIS said before the Bill was read a . third time he would like to draw the atten-- tion of the Government to the fact that it interfered with other Acts. There was «n Act permitting the use of traction en-- gines on tramways. 'The present Bill would interfere with that Act. The prqperty-holders along the line of the Kingston Road ramway had not been heard by the Committee, and he had a petition from these propertf-holders declaring that if the Bill was passed it would seriously & _diminish the value of their property.
