?limutlon arose from the feeling outside of the | House that the Dominion Government intended to wrong Ontario. The situation was similar to that which obtained before Confederation, when _ Conservatives as well as Reform-- ers recognized the evils of Quebec ascend-- ancy. Before Confederstion it was always contended that the boundaries of U?per Canada extended beyond Fort Garry. HMad the peo&)le of Upper Cunada had any idea that their boundaries | would be cut off at Prince Arthur's Landing they certainly never would have entered the Downinion, I(Applause.) At the time when Canada was ne-- gotiating@ toobtain possession of the Hudson Ba | Territory it was claimed that the territory & | Ontario extended up to the Lake of the Woods. | The Boundary Award Committeo was ap-- + pointed _ simply to make an excuse for breaking the award. The Ontario Conserva-- /tives ought to join with the Government ( in standing up for the rk'hu of the Province. The | people of Ontario would never submit to be | wronged, and would not sacrifice half their terri-- 'tory to please Quebec. Those who stood up for i the rights of Ontario were the best friends ofthe ! Dominion, {or the Dominion could not be main-- | tained if the rights of Ontario were to be sacrificed. The Conservatives of the Province would eon-- demn those who were willing to rob Ontario of half its territory, (Applause.)
