He made c»nplaint that polling places had not been fixed at certain places. Mr, MOWAT in reply showed that the statute atrictly defined the manner in which the polling places should be fixed ; and if anything had been done otherwise than as directed by law, the vote cast at the elesction would have been lost, and then a claimn would have been made that persons had been entrapped into voting at 'Y'luca where he knew they would be lost. here were twent{ places mentioned in the Act as places where polis should be opened ; an Order in Council was passed fixing twenty more, and the returnmng--ofticer having called attention to the nsed of more his recommendations were met by an Order in Council, The member for London had called attention to the fact that the returning--officer had not opened a poll at Cock-- buru Island. -- Surely e know that if the return-- ing--officer had done so the vote had been lost, and then the 50 or 60 votes which were cast for Mr. Plummer would have been lost, as they would huve voted there instead of going eisewhere, which they did. There had been polis at every place at which one had ever been heid and many _ Mr., PARDEE said that every voter on Cock-- burn Island had gone to vote at Thessalon, and nbout 80 votes warse there received as coming more. Mr. LYON stated that a thorough canvass had been made of Cociburn Island and it showed that there were only 42 voters.
