SECOND READINGS. Mr. FERRKRIS moved the second reading of his wills to amend the Assessment Act, and the Municipal Act. Mr. GIBSONX (Huron) moved the second read> ing of the bill to amend the Ditches and Water-- courses Act. Mr. MEREDTTH thought the bill was a very |\ important one and should be sent to a special committee,. _ The Government might look at the ' matter and bring it up as a public measure next session. Mr. PARDEE said he would be sorry to see a | change in tho Act at present. It only came in | force last March. The bill provided for the limiting of the amount the engineer should award for the despening, widening,or making any ditch or drain, but he could not see the logic of the change. -- The bill, he thought, should be deferred till they could ascertain the working of the Act, Mr. WATERS could understand_ the object of the bill to limit the scove of the Water Courses Act, but he thought it would be a difficult thing to do. The Act had given great satisfaction. The motion was carried and the bill referred to the Committee on Municipal Laws. Mr. WOOD moved the second reading of a bill to amend the Railway Act of Ontario. | Mr. CLANCY moved the second reading of | the bill to amend the Consolidated Municipal Act with reference to the construction of drains. REPORTS. Mr. HARDY laid on the table the report of the Commissioner of Crown Lands for 1883 ; also statement of timber cut in disputed territory . He also laid on the table by command the cors respondence between the Government of the | Province and the (Government of the Dominion with reference to the case of the Quoen v. Hodge.
