The druggists' bill, which was the sub-- jecet of much adverse public criticism, was discussed in the house to--day. The pro-- posal for the second reading of the meas-- ure raised a storm of opposition, which d\ = was only subdued by the assurance of Dr. | _ McKay, the promoter, and the Attorney--. general that its objectionable features had been entirely eliminated. As this meant that the druggists had receded from the position asserted in the original draft of the bill, that none but themselves should retail patent medicines, opposition was withdrawn and the bill was referred to & special committes for consideration.
