"'nden Lavell continued his testimony. and was examined again by Mr. Marter. At the conclusion of his evidence Hon. Mr. Harcourt called Messrs. R. n'. McCuiioch and Samm' linrkness, two Kingston gentlemen, who were familiar with the meat sup- plied to the penitentiary and also to the asylum here. Both gentlemen had been engaged in the butchering busi- ness for many years, and had seen the meat supplied both institutions. They had no hesitation In saying that the meat supplied the asylum was worth at least te a hundred more than that supplied the penitentiary. Mr. Hark- 'ness said he had for many years pur- chased the beef for the latter institu- tion, and had got. an interior article. The committee will meet again to-mor- row at 10 o'clock.
