Notes. | Ex--Ald. Parnell, Inspector Sanders : and C. R. Jayer were among the Lon-- doners who witnessed the proceedings. . Among the interested spectators on the floor of the House mwere Rev. Dr. Cta.rman and Rev. Prof. Mowat of King-- ston. Mr. James Innes, ex--M.P., Guelph, paid a visit to the Legislative builld-- > ings yesterday. A Mr. Malcolm Bremner of The Lon-- don Free Press viewed the opening _ ceremony from the Press Gallery. The operation of a number of elec-- tric fans in the chamber was a boon to every person in it. By means of these fans the atmosphere was kept Areuxh constently, end what would hava | ' otherwise been a most exhausting strain upon the spirits and physical en-- durance of those present was made a | most pleasant and enjoyable function. ; 'There was some inconvenience experi--' ' enced from the constant buzz of these 'fans, which necessitated the shutting down of those in the Press Gallery. The , benefits experienced far outweighed this | slight annoyance. | The members of the Press Gallery had | an excellent opportunity of testing the | value of the improvements made in ac-- | cordance with the promise of the At-- | torney--General at the last session of | the House. Although the acoustics are not yet by any means perfect, the alter-- ation has been a distinct gain in that direction, which is appreciated by the members of the press. The lowering of the gallery has also materially increas-- ed the natural'light in the chamber. ; Iexnmurnarnnmenemaememmmacmmsmemwnes |
