Boe-- fore adjournment Col, Matheson incuir-- ced whether the public accounts for 1893 are printed yet, and, if so, when the , HMouse might expect to receive copics. The Provincial Treasurer replied that the accounts are being@ printed arnd he hoped to have them ready for distri-- bution some day next week, possibly on Wednesday. | The House then adjourned. | Fishery Regulations. The Globe has been asked to publish the regulations in regard to the use of nets for the information of the fish-- ermen on the rivers and lakes of On-- tario. The decision as to what im-- plements shall be used m the fisheries still remains in the hands of the Dom-- inion Government, but the power to is-- sue licenses rests with the ()ntnrinl Government under the change recently made,. The Ontario Department of Fisheries issues licenses for five kinds of fishing--pound nets, gill nets, hoop nets, scines and set lines. The hoop nets are used for coarse fishing and the capture of fish not protected by the close season ; pound and gill nots are principally used for catching trout. whitefish, herring and pickerel. (Gill | nets are set out in deep water and pound nets run out from the shore. Seines or sweep nets are chiefly used in the River Thames, Lake Sti. Clair and the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers. Set lines are attached-- to floats and contain a number of baited hooks. They are used most freauently around Pe-- lee Island in the capture of sturgeon and other fish that take bait. The close season for bass and maskinonge is from April 15 to June 15. pickerel from April 15 to May 15, speckled trout from Sept. 15 to May 1, salmon trout and whitefish from Nov. 1 to Nov. 20.
