Parliament Buildings, Feb. 6. The session of the Legislature th's afternoon was of brief duration. The Attorney-Gven'eral introduced his declar--| atory bill dealing with the moneys of in-- fants and others in the High Court, and Mr. Crawford also introduced his bill ; amending the law with respect to the compensation for injuries sustained by workmen. Both measures received a first reading. 'The Attorney--General, referring to an editorial which appear-- ed in The Mail and Empire to--day, pointed out that there was no contra-- diction between certain statements made by Hon. Mr. Ross and himself with reference to the action taken by the Lieutenant--Governor in Counc'l r»-- specting the Dutton and Aldborough drainage debenture liability. Mr. Whit-- ney also complained of an edito:sial ar-- ticle in The Globe commenting upon the statement made by him in his spesch on Thursday concerning the measure of education is imparted under the sch_ol systeim. Petitions. The following petitions were pre-- gented:-- Mr. Farwell--Petition of Harry W. Evenden and others, of the Island o' Campement d'Oures, asking the incor-- poration of the Worthington & Onaping Railway Company. Mr. Dickenson--Petition of th> Coun-- ty Council of Wentworth praying cer-- tain amendments to the assossment act respecting the equalization of as-- sessment. Mr. Dickenson--Petition of the Coun-- ty Council of Wentworth asking for a uniform law regulating the use of bi-- cycles on the public highway.
